concept house 2003

An experimental house on a brownfield site . The house explores, experiments with and celebrates the potential of different spaces and requirements found in a typical rural house. The house creates new relationships between the inside and the landscape and the existing ruined cottage becomes a semi-internal courtyard. The house exemplifies many forms of passive solar design based on a research study made by JB Architects on solar shading. There are a surprising number of ruined 2-up 2-down cottages found in the countryside of the British Isles that have tremendous potential for re-use.
